Captain Homers at Becharof Lodge

Big water. Good people. Serious fishing. This is a place worth the trip.

Becharof Lodge is where good things come together: a beautiful Alaska setting with excellent food and knowledgeable guides who know their water. Come for the fishing. Leave with stories.

From the workbench to the water.

One of the things I enjoy most about making lures is turning another angler’s ideas into something they can put to work on the water. My work with Becharof Lodge on Alaska’s Egegik River has given me the opportunity to do just that.

The lodge specializes in coho salmon fishing. I’ve built custom lures from designs suggested by their guides and supplied some of my standard Captain Homers lures, too. I also created special packaging to go with the custom builds.

I’ve been excited to see their success with both the custom builds and my standard lures. They’ve kept me up to date with plenty of photos and feedback from the water, and I always enjoy seeing what they’re catching.

That’s a rewarding part of making lures myself: taking a guide’s idea from the workbench to the water, then seeing what it catches.

Feedback from Becharof Lodge

“These custom lures by Captain Homers are deadly for fish....poor fish, don’t stand a chance.”

The green Bandit caught one guide’s attention. Here’s what he had to say:

“Your green bandit was a top killer”

“We spent weeks using the green bandit lure, which everyday it caught multiple salmon”

Have an idea for a custom build?

Tell me what you have in mind. I’d be glad to talk through a custom lure build for your water, your fishing style, or your lodge.
